Dr. Kitzel Farrah, Veterinarian
Kitzel Farrah was raised in Pagosa Springs Colorado and graduated from the Pagosa Springs High School. She attended Colorado State University for both her undergraduate and doctorate. She graduated from CSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. After a brief stint in Arizona, she returned to Pagosa Springs to practice.
Dr. Cara Finstad, Veterinarian
Dr. Cara Finstad grew up on a ranch in a small rural town in central Texas and spent most of her time roping, showing pigs, or playing sports. She attended Texas Tech University following high school and earned a B.S. in Animal Science while on the TTU horse judging team. Dr. Finstad was then accepted into the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2018. She began her career in Ruidoso, NM working next to the racetrack on horses and small animals. Excited for a new environment, she was eager to begin her employment with San Juan Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Finstad enjoys the challenge and variety in caring for any and all animals that walk through the door. When she is not working, she enjoys anything that involves being outdoors including team roping, hiking, skiing, and exploring her new home with her horse, two dogs, and a three–legged cat.
Dr. Helena Wayt, Veterinarian
Dr. Helena Wayt is a DVM who graduated from Texas A&M University and has been practicing for five years. Her professional interests and specialties lie in surgery, from high-volume spay/neuter to orthopedics, and she is also passionate about shelter medicine. Dr. Wayt has discovered a love for teaching and enjoys educating vet students, tech staff, and new puppy owners.
Regarding veterinary medicine and caring for her patients, Dr. Wayt prides herself on her ability to foster animals, especially the most challenging medical cases from the shelter, and watch them flourish with their new families.
Dr. Wayt enjoys running, hiking, camping, traveling, and anything outdoors in her free time. She has three dogs named Sitka, Nevada, and Louie, and she also regularly fosters animals.
Dr. Wayt is excited to practice in Pagosa Springs and explore everything the town and surrounding area offer. She is planning to work on USDA accreditation and CO licensing soon.
Amy Wilson, Hospital Manager
Amy moved to Pagosa Springs in the summer of 1995. She met her husband Rok Wilson, who is a native to Pagosa Springs, and was married in 1996 and they started a family shortly after. Amy has 2 daughters, Shannel who attends college at Colorado Mesa University, Devin who is a high school student and athlete, and Briggs who is in elementary school.
Shaina Brannon, Head Receptionist/Veterinary Technician
Shaina was born & raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Pagosa Springs in 2005. Shaina started working at the San Juan Veterinary Hospital in the spring of 2010 and has also worked at Wolf Creek Ski Area in the ski rental shop since 2005. When she’s not working Shaina enjoys spending time in the mountains with outdoor activities such as hiking with her 2 dogs Finn and Raven, rock climbing and skiing.
Sandra Kuhne, Veterinary Technician
Sandra was born and raised in Pagosa Springs Colorado. She received a Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is currently taking online classes to become certified as a veterinary technician. Sandra had worked at Aspen Tree Veterinary Clinic since 2013, and in December of 2015, she came to work at San Juan Veterinary Hospital when the two practices merged.
Shaun Kramer, Receptionist/Veterinary Technician
Shaun was born and raised in the Denver Metro area and moved to Pagosa Springs with her husband Jeremy in the spring of 2018 to be closer to all of the Colorado outdoor activities they enjoy. A graduate of the Metropolitan State University of Denver, Shaun has a degree in Photojournalism but fell in love with working with animals while managing a dog boarding facility as a student.
Diane Bobbitt, Receptionist
Diane moved to Pagosa Springs from Texas in December of 2019. She worked at Pagosa Springs Humane Society giving all the fur babies looking for forever homes tender loving care. She recently joined our team in August 2020. Diane married Chris Sept 8, 2007 (her wedding was full Camouflage attire!) And they welcomed their son Gage in 2013. Completing their home is 3 fur kids Sookie, Yella, and Code. Diane has many interests including hunting, fishing, exploring the wilderness, and spending time with family and friends.
